Rob Peterson is a Senior Environmental Scientist in GEI’s Duluth, MN office. He has more than 22 years of experience in the environmental field including wetland ecology, habitat restoration planning, vegetation management and monitoring, invasive species control, federal, state, and local permitting, project coordination, and community engagement. Rob is a licensed Geologist specializing in natural resources, wetland services, and environmental permitting. He has been completing wetland services since 2003 and was certified through the Minnesota Wetland Delineator Certification Program in 2006 and is certified as a Professional Wetland Scientist through the Society of Wetland Scientists. Rob has also received a Certificate in Ecological Restoration from the University of Minnesota in 2015.

In the last several years, Rob has managed multiple ecological restoration projects within the St. Louis River Area of Concern as well as many energy and transportation environmental permitting projects. These projects include native plant community and invasive species surveys, restoration plan design, living shoreline design, and implementation oversight. The environmental permitting projects have received permits related to Clean Water Act Sec. 404 & 401, state wetland regulations, utility crossing, floodplains, construction stormwater, erosion control and sedimentation, water withdrawal and discharge, and threatened and endangered species incidental take. Projects managed by Rob have also required field surveys for rare plants, terrestrial and aquatic non-native invasive species, threatened and endangered species, bats, raptors, and migratory birds. Rob has completed more than 500 wetland and ecology related professional development hours since 2003 and continually strives to remain up to date with the science of ecology and natural resources.
