Paul D. Drew, PE, CFM is a senior hydraulic engineer with extensive water resource engineering and project management experience. Paul serves as a lead hydrologic and hydraulic engineer and ensures quality assurance and quality control documentation of project deliverables. His technical expertise has focused on hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, water resource design, and regulatory permitting. Paul’s experience includes spillway design, dam failure analyses, dam inspections, inundation mapping, and emergency action plans for FERC licensed hydroelectric projects and state regulated dams in over 15 states. He was recently the lead hydraulic engineer to develop a spillway discharge rating curve and tailwater rating curve for the Spirit Dam Hydroelectric Project. The analysis was completed in response to a FERC recommendation to update the spillway discharge rating curve and tailwater rating curve. The hydraulic analysis was completed using a 2D HEC-RAS computer model that was calibrated to recorded spillway gate flows, gate opening heights, and headwater / tailwater elevations for a storm event in 2017. Mr. Drew is proficient in both 1D and 2D software applications including AutoCAD Civil 3D, FLO-2D, GIS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS, HEC-1, HEC-2, HydroCAD, and XP-SWMM.
